Pipi Road | Diana Blake Design, Architect

Sited amongst the dunes along the east coast beach of Whangamata, this robust beach house constructed of concrete and vertical Accoya timber has a strong presence.

The long, narrow beachfront site with a public walkway to one side highlights the need for privacy while capturing the surrounding views.

To control light and privacy, large adjustable aluminum louvres run the length of the double-height gallery space.

Bespoke floating stairs and striking vertical timber handrails provide connection between levels.

Retractable glass doors create an uninterrupted connection to the private internal courtyard and ocean front.
